OUTINGS.  Tandem organizes door to door outings almost every Thursday to places of interest in the South East.  These include historic buildings, museums, gardens and trips on canal boats and visits to restaurants and pubs for lunches.  Tandem vehicles with volunteer drivers provide transport, so costs are kept to a minimum.

SOCIAL EVENTS.  Every summer Tandem arranges a strawberry tea for members.  Each year, a generous volunteer makes their beautiful garden available.  Tables and chairs are set up and yet more volunteers provide a feast of sandwiches, cakes, and of course strawberries.  A Christmas lunch is arranged every year at The Grange in Midhurst.  Tandem arranges transport to enable members to attend.

TUESDAY CLUB.  Tandem organizes a regular club meeting on Tuesday at The Grange, Midhurst.  Volunteers arrange games such as cards and bingo and other activities from 3.00pm to about 5.00 pm.

VOLUNTEER AS A HELPER

There is always a need for both men and women to help at Tandem organized functions.  Help to arrange outings, entertain members, play music or games, make or serve meals or tea, move and set up tables and chairs, join the home library service.  Tandem is always looking for new ways to provide interesting activities for members, so if you have a skill, Tandem can use it.  If you can help at any time, please telephone.

HOME LIBRARY SERVICE.  Tandem, in association with the West Sussex Library in Midhurst provides a home library service.  Tandem volunteers, who have all had CRB clearance, visit borrowers who are unable to get to the library or mobile library to discuss the sorts of books and tapes they would like. They then  select books from the library and deliver them.  After an agreed period of time they call to collect and replace books and/or tapes and stay for a chat if invited.
